The Pala Band of Mission Indians opened the 185,000-square-foot Pala Casino in North San Diego County April 3, the second of four casinos opening in North County, CA, this spring.

LAS VEGAS, NV -The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is nearing the completion of the anticipated $75 million tower expansion project.
The new rooms are slated for a mid-summer opening, but components of the project are scheduled to begin opening by May 2001. The project includes: a 1,000-room tower with 100 suites, many with oversized spa tubs and fabulous views of the Las Vegas Strip; a 67,000-square-foot resort style pool and recreation deck on the eighth floor of the new tower — overlooking the Las Vegas Strip — featuring a spa, private cabanas and a special event area.
There will also be a snack bar and full-service cocktail bar slated to open in June 2001; Lucky’s Cafe, a 300-seat coffee shop with decor best described as “vintage Las Vegas” with a 50s style art deco theme with historical photographs of Las Vegas — set to open May 2001; a buffet expansion; and an entertainment and special event amphitheater that will seat more than 3,700 guests and will bring the hottest headliners and special events, such as world-class boxing, to the north end of the Strip.
The project also includes a new entrance, complete with a new porte cochere, valet parking entrance, bus terminal, hotel lobby and gift shop area, and incorporates some of the most up-to-date safety features, such as earthquake-proof codes and safety features, sprinklers, smoke alarms and strobes for the hearing-impaired.
